Roger Marshall - Drums
Meet Roger "Groove" Marshall, a seasoned drummer whose passion for rhythm has been captivating audiences for over five decades. Born and raised in Montreal, Roger picked up his first pair of drumsticks at the age of 9. His early years were spent jamming with local bands, where he honed his skills and developed a unique style that blends blues, funk, and rock. Throughout the 1980s and 2000’s, Roger became a staple in the Charlotte music community, performing at iconic venues and festivals.
His infectious energy and masterful drumming earned him a loyal following, and he quickly became known for his ability to get any crowd on their feet. From smoky blues bars to lively rock venues Roger’s beats have resonated with fans across the Carolinas.
Now residing in sunny Florida, Roger has embraced the local music scene, bringing his signature sound to new audiences. He continues to perform with The Friends of Rock, infusing every show with his love for blues, funk and rock.
At 70, Roger remains as passionate as ever, proving that age is just a number when it comes to making music. Whether he's behind the kit or sharing stories of his musical journey, Roger "Groove" Marshall is a true testament to the power of rhythm and the joy of live performance.
ROB LEE - VOCALS/GUITAR
Rob Lee is a local musician in the Daytona area who has been playing venues for many years. He began playing guitar as a teenager, learning from magazines and teaching himself. Taking a decade break from guitar while he served in the military, Rob returned to playing after returning home.
Now His unique voice and guitar playing has been entertaining audiences in all types of establishments from fine dining resturants, taverns, bars, festivals, events, benefits, and weddings. He can be found playing acoustic guitar and performing in his solo act at many beachside resturants along the East coast of Florida.
Although he enjoys the one man act, his true enjoyment comes from playing in a full band with talented musicians.
Shawn Proctor - Bass
Shawn’s Dad bought him his first guitar at age 13, and his began his love affair with music. Originally from Louisville, KY Shawn has played in numerous bands on both guitar and bass, and has been playing in bars since he was a kid. Fueled by the blues and old-time rock and roll, Shawn can’t wait to get back onto the scene and play the songs that he loves. Being an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and serving as a pastor at a local church, Shawn enjoys bringing joy to all those he meets. As the old blues song goes “The eagle flies on Friday, and Saturday I go out to play, but Sunday morning I go to church, and get down on my knees and pray!”
TOM SCIME - KEYBOARD
Tom Scime, a seasoned professional keyboardist originally from Buffalo NY. Tom began playing the organ at the age of 6, and by the age of 9 was sitting in with jazz bands around Western New York. During those early days it was common the hear people saying; “look it’s just a kid.” By the age of 13 Tom competed in many jazz organ competitions sponsored by Yamaha Music.
Tom’s passion is Jazz organ and playing the legendary B3, however he is well versed on piano and synthesizers and even playing The Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ. His style of playing is both percussive and melodic and you can hear influences from Jimmie Smith to Keith Emerson. After a bit of a hiatus from music during his career in EMS and law enforcement Tom returned to the Buffalo music scene and became a sought after keyboardist along with winning multiple WNY music awards.
Over the last 20 years Tom has toured both nationally and internationally with blues bands and playing with a national Chicago tribute band. Tom moved to Florida 4 years ago and has begun to re-establish himself as a professional keyboardist, as well as still doing some select touring.
